European championships in modern pentathlon
European championships in modern pentathlon were organized for the first time in 1987 under the umbrella organization of the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM) . In 1987 the European Championships in West Berlin started with two competitions for men in the individual and in the team, in 1989 in Modena the women also competed in the modern pentathlon for the first time in the individual and in the team. Until 1999 , the championships for men and women were held at various locations. Since 2000 , all championships have been held in one joint event. In 1991 a relay competition was introduced for the men and 1995 for the women, in 2012 a mixed relay was introduced as the last competition, so that there are currently seven competitions in the official program.
