David Svoboda (born March 19, 1985 in Prague ) is a Czech modern pentathlon . In 2012 in London he became Olympic champion.
Athletic career
Svoboda first appeared internationally in 2002 when he finished 28th at the European Youth Championships; In 2003 he reached second place. In 2004 Svoboda finished sixth at the Junior World Championships in Shekesferhervar, in 2006 he ran to third place at the Junior European Championships, at the Junior World Championships in 2006 in Shanghai he won the title.
In 2008 he took second place behind the Russian Ilya Frolow at the World Cup in the adult class . At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing , Svoboda finished 29th. In 2009 Svoboda won the world championship title in the relay, in the individual classification he finished second behind the Hungarian Ádám Marosi , and in the team classification the Hungarians also won ahead of the Czechs. In 2010 Svoboda won the World Military Championship and the European Championship. At the World Championships in Chengdu he reached 17th place in the individual ranking and fifth place in the relay. In 2011 Svoboda won the World Cup in Budapest and the Kremlin Cup in Moscow, but finished 23rd in the European Championship and 32nd in the World Championship at the big championships in 2011, not in the foreground.
In May 2012 he finished ninth at the World Championships in Rome and in August he won the gold medal at the Olympic Games .
