Marina Wiktorowna Basanowa ( Russian Марина Викторовна Базанова , born December 25, 1962 in Omsk , Soviet Union ; † April 27, 2020 in Bremen , Germany ) was a Russian handball player and trainer .

Career

Basanova initially ran for the Soviet club Spartak Kiev . With Spartak Kiev she won the Soviet championship in 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987 and 1988 as well as the European Cup of National Champions in 1981, 1983, 1985, 1986, 1987 and 1988 . In 1991 the outside player moved to the German first division club TuS Walle Bremen , where she worked as a player and later as a coach. With Walle Bremen she won the German championship in 1992, 1994, 1995 and 1996, the DHB Cup in 1993, 1994 and 1995 and the European Cup Winners ' Cup in 1994 . In 1997, the left-hander moved to the Werder Bremen club , with whom she was promoted to the top and regional leagues. She later worked there as a player-coach. In 2008 she finished her job at Werder Bremen.

Basanova was a member of the Soviet national team . With the Soviet Union she won the world title in 1982 , 1986 and 1990 and the bronze medal at the 1988 Summer Olympics . With the United Team , Basanova won the bronze medal again at the 1992 Summer Olympics .
