Johannes Schneider (Tibetologist)

Johannes Schneider (born February 9, 1964 in Wangen im Allgäu ) is a German Tibetologist and Indologist .

Life

From 1986 to 1992 he studied Indology, Tibetology and Religious Studies at the Philipps University in Marburg (1992 Magister / 1994 PhD ). From 1994 to 1999 he worked at the Free University of Berlin . Since 1999 he has been teaching at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . Since 2003 he has been working on the dictionary of the Tibetan written language for the Bavarian Academy of Sciences . After completing his habilitation in 2006, he has been an adjunct professor of Indology at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich since 2014 .

His research and teaching focuses on Sanskrit poetry and poetics , Tibetan philology and lexicography and the literature of Indian and Tibetan Buddhism .
