Boris Borissowitsch Kokorew ( Russian Борис Борисович Кокорев ; born April 20, 1959 in Tbilisi , Georgian SSR ; † October 22, 2018 in Moscow ) was a Russian sports shooter .
successes
Boris Kokorew took part in five Olympic Games . In 1988 he took eighth place with the air pistol in Seoul after successfully qualifying for the final. Four years later he started in Barcelona for the United Team and finished the competition with the air pistol in 22nd place. At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta , he entered the competition with the free pistol , in which he reached the final with 570 points. In this he scored a further 96.4 points, so that he won the gold medal and became Olympic champion with a total of 666.4 points ahead of Ihar Bassinski and Roberto Di Donna . He finished the 2000 Games in Sydney with the air pistol in 26th place and with the free pistol in twelfth place. When he last participated in the Olympics in Athens in 2004 , he reached the final with the free pistol and finished it in fifth place.
At world championships Kokorew won the title with the air pistol team in Mexico City in 1985 , in Suhl in 1986 , in Budapest in 1987 , in Moscow in 1990 and in Stavanger in 1991 . He also secured silver with her in 1998 in Barcelona . In 1990 he won his only medal in singles with bronze. With the free pistol he won the silver medal in the team competitions in Milan in 1994 , in Barcelona in 1998 and in Lahti in 2002 . He was European champion three times each with the air pistol and the free pistol.
Boris Kokorew had a child. He died in Moscow on October 22, 2018.
