With the free pistol he won his first gold medal three days later with 660.4 rings. Again, as with his other medal wins, he left the North Korean Kim Jong-su right behind him, who was convicted of doping only a few days later.

In 2009 he won the World Cup in Changwon with an air pistol, where he broke the previous world record, which had existed for over 20 years, by one ring with an initial 583 rings in the qualification round. He moved into the final first and came second with a further 95.7 rings and a total of 689.7 rings behind Leonid Jekimow , who won with a total of 691 rings. At the 2010 World Shooting Championships in Munich, he was considered a favorite, but this time he could not quite live up to his role as a favorite.

In the 2012 Olympic Games in London Jin won the title with the air gun and also defended the title with the free pistol. At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , he again won the gold medal with the free pistol and finished fifth with the air pistol.
