Kim Jong-su (born January 1, 1977 ) is a North Korean marksman specializing in the air pistol and free pistol disciplines .

Kim Jong-su celebrated his first major international successes at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens . In the free pistol discipline over 50 meters, he won the bronze medal (661.5 rings) behind the Russian Michail Nestrujew and the South Korean Jin Jong-oh . With the air pistol over 10 meters he was eighth (682.9 rings). At the 2006 World Championships in Zagreb , Kim finished fifth with the free pistol (660.2 rings). He finished the World Cup in Guangzhou with the air pistol in second place. At the 2007 Asian Championships in Kuwait City , he won bronze with the air pistol (680.2 rings).

At the Pre-Olympic World Cup in Beijing in 2008 , Kim Jong-su came third with the air pistol. He also achieved this position during the Olympic Games behind the Chinese Pang Wei and, as in 2004, with the free pistol (683.0 rings) behind the runner-up Jin Jong-oh. With the free pistol, he won the silver medal three days later. Here, too, he had to admit defeat to Jin Jong-oh. Several days after the competitions, it was revealed that Kim had tested positive for the beta blocker propranolol , which is banned in shooting sports . The agent can reduce tremors and thus bring about a competitive advantage that is contrary to fairness. The medals were withdrawn from him .
