Xu Haifeng (Chinese 许海峰, born August 1, 1958 in Zhangzhou , Fujian Province) is a Chinese sports shooter . He is the first ever Chinese Olympic champion.

He won gold at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles . He became Olympic champion in 50 meter pistol shooting. A Chinese shooter also took bronze in this competition. In 1988 he won at the Olympic Summer Games in Seoul , the bronze medal, shooting in the 10m air pistol.

After the end of his active career in 1995, he became national coach in the Chinese Rifle Federation.

At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing he was the first torch bearer for the opening ceremony in the Bird's Nest -called Olympic Stadium of Beijing.

Xu is married and has one daughter.
