Väinö Johannes Markkanen (born October 2, 1907 in Paltamo ) is a former Finnish sports shooter .
successes
Väinö Markkanen took part in the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964 in the free pistol discipline . With 560 points, he set the existing Olympic record and became Olympic champion ahead of Franklin Green and Yoshihisa Yoshikawa . At world championships in 1974 in Thun , Markkanen won bronze with the large-caliber pistol in the team competition.
