Ihar Bassinski ( Belarusian Ігар Басінскі ; born April 11, 1963 in Hrodna , Belarusian SSR ) is a former Belarusian sports shooter .

successes

Ihar Bassinski took part in four Olympic Games and started each time with the air pistol over 10 m and with the free pistol over 50 m. In 1988 he made it to the finals in Seoul in both disciplines and finished the competition with the air pistol in fifth place. With the free pistol he reached third place with 657 points behind Sorin Babii and Ragnar Skanåker , so that he received the bronze medal. At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta , Bassinski again reached both finals. With the air pistol he finished seventh, while with the free pistol he took silver with 662.0 behind Boris Kokorew and ahead of Roberto Di Donna . Four years later , Bassinski again secured the finals in both competitions in Sydney . In the air pistol competition, after finishing fourth in qualifying with 682.7 total points in the final, he made it to third place behind Franck Dumoulin and Wang Yifu . With the free pistol he finished the competition behind Tanju Kirjakow and before Martin Tenk on the silver rank. In his last games in 2004 he missed the respective finals for the first time as eleventh with the air pistol and 15th with the free pistol.

At world championships he first secured the bronze medal with the air pistol team in Santo Domingo in 1981 . In 1986 in Suhl he became world champion with the air pistol and also won silver with the free pistol and bronze with the large-caliber pistol and the standard pistol. In the team competitions of these four disciplines, he won all titles with the Soviet team. In Moscow he succeeded again in 1990 with the standard pistol team, and he also won silver with the team with the free pistol. In 1994 in Milan and 1998 in Barcelona he was runner-up with the air pistol. In addition, he secured bronze medals in 1998 in individual with the free pistol and in team competitions with the free pistol, the large-bore pistol and the air pistol. Bassinski also won several titles at European championships.

He is married and has one child.
