Aljona Vladimirovna Kartashova
Aljona Wladimirowna Kartaschowa ( Russian Алёна Владимировна Карташова ; born January 23, 1982 in Angarsk , Soviet Union ) is a Russian wrestler . She won a silver medal in the weight class up to 63 kg body weight at the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 and was also once world champion and three times European champion .
Career
Aljona Kartaschowa began wrestling as a teenager in 1996. After her first major successes, she moved to Moscow and became a member of the DUSHOR No. 24 Moscow . She was trained mainly by Thomas Samoilowitsch Barba and Alexander Suchanow. In Moscow she also attended a university.
Her international wrestling career began in 1998 when she took part in the Junior World Championship for the age group "Cadets" (up to the age of 16). She finished 5th in the weight class up to 52 kg in Manchester . As a junior, she started at the 2000 European Junior Championships in Sofia , where she took 4th place in the weight class up to 58 kg and at the 2000 Junior World Championships in Nantes , where she was runner- up in the same weight class behind Seiko Yamamoto from Japan has been.
She made her first start at an international championship for women in 2002. She caused a bang at the world championship in Chalkida / Greece in the weight class up to 59 kg, because she was world champion there with five wins. In the final, she defeated the Swede Lotta Andersson . In 2003 it was no longer so successful. She came at the European Championships in Riga in the weight class up to 63 kg, in which she started in the next few years, only on the 8th place because she was defeated in her second fight by Lene Aanes from Norway . She did not win a medal at the World Cup that year in New York City , but after a loss to Sara McMann from the United States, she came in 5th.
In 2004 Aljona Kartaschowa became European champion in Haparanda . She won the final battle against Stéphanie Groß from Germany . In the same year she took part in the Olympic Games in Athens . But there she only came to a victory over Ludmila Golowchenko from Ukraine . She lost against Kaori Icho from Japan and Olga Chilko from Belarus and therefore only came in 8th place, which was disappointing for her.
In 2005, 2006 and 2007 Aljona Kartaschowa was only used at the European Championships. At the European Championships in 2005 in Varna , she disappointed and lost after winning a fight against Monika Ewa Michalik from Poland and Maria Müller from Germany and ended up in 8th place. At the 2006 European Championships in Moscow , however, she was able to fully convince and secure her second European title with victories over Mihaela Panait, Romania , Olga Chilko, Agoro Papavasileiou, Greece and Monika Ewa Michalik. She almost won the next title at the 2007 European Championships in Sofia . After victories over Lise Legrand , France, Helena Allandi from Sweden and Monika Ewa Michalik, she failed there in the final to Stefanie Stüber from Germany and was runner-up behind this European champion.
The most successful year in Aljona Kartaschowa's career was 2008. She first won the European title again in Tampere, Finland . On the way, she defeated Bianca Mihaela Iancolovici from Romania, Oxana Schalikowa from Ukraine, Karin Stingelin from Switzerland , Monika Ewa Michalik and Olga Chilko. At the Olympic Games in Beijing , she defeated Jelena Schalygina from Kazakhstan , Elina Wasewa from Bulgaria and Lise Legrand. In the final battle, however, she lost to the multiple world champion Kaori Icho after a good fight on points (0: 2 rounds, 0: 3 points). She won an Olympic silver medal with it .
Aljona Kartaschowa continued her career after the Olympic Games in Beijing. At the European Championships in Vilnius in 2009 she was in good shape again and defeated there u. a. Henna Johansson from Sweden. In the final, however, she lost to her permanent rival Monika Ewa Michalik and thus took second place. She was not at the start at the 2009 World Cup. But again at the European Championships 2010 in Baku . Here they started first in the weight category to 67 kg body weight and won after losing in the semifinals against Kateryna Burmistrowa from Ukraine with a win over Paulina Grabowska from Poland a bronze medal . At the end of her career, she started at the 2010 World Cup in Moscow . But there, of all places , she lost her first fight against Ifeoma Iheanacho from Nigeria , with which she was eliminated and only finished 14th.
Only the results from 2008 and 2010 are known of Aljona Kartashova's starts at the Russian championships. In 2008 she was Russian champion in the weight class up to 63 kg in front of Lyubow Wolossowa and Anna Polownewa and in 2010 she also won this title, but in the weight class up to 67 kg. Here she relegated Julija Bartnowskaja and Jelena Perepelkina to their places.
