Kateryna Burmistrowa achieved her first big success at the 2002 World Cup in Chalkida / Greece. At the 2009 World Championships in Herning / Denmark she came on the 7th, in 2010 in Moscow on the 12th and in 2011 in Istanbul only on the 23rd place. Decisive for this were her defeats to Martine Dugrenier (2009), Kyoko Hamaguchi , the four-time Japanese world champion (2010) and Wang Jiao , China , the 2008 Olympic champion (2011).

At the European Championships in Belgrade in 2012 , she defeated three world-class wrestlers, Karine Schabojan from Armenia , Natalja Vorobjewa from Russia and Jenny Fransson from Sweden , only to surprisingly lose in the final against the Norwegian Maja Gunvor Erlandsen .
