Yellow Ostrich is an American indie rock band.
history
The band was founded in 2010 in New York City by singer and guitarist Alex Schaaf , drummer Michael Tapper and bassist and wind player Jon Natchez . Alex Schaaf recorded the solo album Wild Comfort a few months before the band was founded . Jon Natchez previously played with Beirut , The Antlers and Camera Obscura .
In 2011 Yellow Ostrich released their debut album The Mistress and toured as opening act for various bands, including a. for The Antlers and Ra Ra Riot . In 2012 the band released their second album Strange Land .
Yellow Ostrich's musical style is guitar-oriented indie rock with a LoFi sound . The band names Velvet Underground , Wire and Neil Young as musical reference points .
