The Antlers is an American indie rock band around singer Peter Silberman.

Band history

Initially, the Antlers were a solo project by Peter Silberman, who single-handedly wrote and recorded the first albums Uprooted and In the Attic of the Universe in a time of personal crisis .

For the third album, Hospice , he expanded the group to include Michael Lerner and Darby Cicci. The album tells the story of a love between the narrator and a terminally ill woman with bone cancer who is being treated at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center . The album was first released in March 2009 by the band itself. After the album was very well received, the band joined the independent label Frenchkiss Records , which released the album in Germany in October 2009. The album was also received positively by critics. The song Kettering was used in the crime scene He Will Kill and in the first episode of the television series Sense8 .

In 2011 the successor "Burst Apart" was released. Despite the pressure of expectation due to the positive reviews for Hospice, this album was also received positively. For the first time, not all of the lyrics on the album are from Peter Silberman.
