Witali Wladimirowitsch Prokhorov ( Russian Виталий Владимирович Прохоров ; born December 25, 1966 in Moscow , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player .

Career

During his Soviet period he played for HK Spartak Moscow . In the 1992 NHL Entry Draft , he was selected in the third round in 64th place by the St. Louis Blues . In 1992 he moved to the Blues in the National Hockey League . In 1996 he went back to Russia and played in the Russian league until the 2000/01 season . In 1995/96 he spent one season in the Swedish league, in 1998/99 one in Switzerland.

On April 2, 1990 he was appointed to the Soviet national ice hockey team. He later became a member of the United Team after the collapse of the Soviet Union . His international career was crowned with a gold medal at the 1992 Winter Olympics . In 1992 he was named an Honored Master of Sport .
