Jekaterina Alexandrovna Marennikowa ( Russian Екатерина Александровна Маренникова ; born April 29, 1982 in Leningrad / Soviet Union ) is a former Russian handball player . Her height is 1.74 m. She is married to Edward Marennikow.

Career

Marennikova, who last played for the Russian club GK Kuban Krasnodar and ran for the Russian national team, was mostly used on the left wing .

She started playing handball at Tremp-Spartak Saint Petersburg. For this club she also made her debut in the Russian first division before moving to top club GK Lada Tolyatti in 2004 . With the women from the Autostadt, she won the Russian championship in 2005, 2006 and 2008 and the EHF Cup in 2012 ; In 2007 she was runner-up and moved into the final of the EHF Champions League . Marennikowa changed in the summer of 2012 to Zvezda Zvenigorod . She won the Russian Cup with Zvezda in 2014. In 2016 she joined GK Kuban Krasnodar . She ended her career after the 2016/17 season.

Yekaterina Marennikova played 128 international matches for the Russian national team . With Russia, she became world champion in her own country in 2005 , and won bronze at the 2006 European Women's Handball Championship . At the 2007 World Cup in France, she was absent due to an injury. She won the silver medal at the 2008 Olympic Games . In summer 2012 she took part in the Olympic Games in London . She won the gold medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro .
