Nikita Gennadjewitsch Kazalapow ( Russian: Никита Геннадьевич Кацалапов ; born July 10, 1991 in Moscow ) is a Russian figure skater who starts in ice dancing . Together with Jelena Iljinych he won medals at the 2014 Winter Olympics . In 2020 he became European champion in ice dance together with Wiktorija Sinizina .

Athletic career

From the 2009/10 season Jelena Iljinych was his ice dance partner. The couple trained with Alexander Schulin and Oleg Volkov in Moscow.

In 2010, Ilinych and Kazalapow were junior world champions in The Hague .

In 2011 they came third in the Russian championships and contested their first world and European championships . They finished fourth at the European Championships and seventh at the World Championships .

As Russian runners-up , Ilyinych and Kazalapov won their first medal at the European Championships in Sheffield in 2012 with bronze . At the World Championships in Nice they improved by two places to fifth compared to the previous year, making them the best Russian ice dance couple.

In 2013 Kazalapow and Ilyinych won the silver medal at the European Championships in Zagreb behind their teammates Yekaterina Bobrowa and Dmitri Solowjow .

At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , Kazalapov was able to win the bronze medal in ice dance with Ilyinych and also achieve the Olympic victory with the team. With 183.48 points (73.04 points in the short program / 110.44 points in the freestyle), they were only worse than Meryl Davis and Charlie White from the USA and Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir from Canada in ice dancing . In the team competition they got 103.48 points in the freestyle, which meant that they were only beaten by Davis / White and Virtue / Moir. Ekaterina Bobrowa and Dmitri Solovyev had danced the short dance .

Wiktorija Sinizina has been his ice dance partner since the 2014/15 season . In the 2018/19 season they qualified for the Grand Prix final , where they won a silver medal in ice dancing. At the World Championships in Saitama, they also won the silver medal.

In the 2019/20 season, Sinizina and Kazalapow won the Cup of Russia , the Cup of China and the European Championships in Graz. They were nominated for the world championships , but this was canceled.
