Barbara Fusar-Poli (born February 6, 1972 in Sesto San Giovanni ) is a former Italian figure skater who started in ice dancing .

Barbara Fusar-Poli did not start figure skating until she was ten. She ran first with Matteo Bonfa and later with Alberto Reani. Fusar-Poli competed for the Club Agora Skating Team Milan . Her trainer was Roberto Pelizzola .

Fusar-Poli achieved her greatest successes with her third ice dance partner Maurizio Margaglio . In 1996 they made their debut at world championships. In 2000 they won their first medals by becoming Vice World Champion and Vice European Champion . In the 2000/2001 season, Fusar-Poli and Margaglio were victorious in all competitions in which they competed. They won all of their three Grand Prix competitions as well as the Grand Prix final . In 2001 they became European champions in Bratislava and world champions in Vancouver . You are the first international title holder in ice dancing from Italy.

After the 2002 Winter Olympics , when Fusar-Poli and Margaglio won the bronze medal, they no longer took part in international competitions. They returned to the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin and, as in their first Olympic Games in 1998, finished sixth.

Barbara Fusar-Poli has been married to Diego Cattani , Olympic champion in the short track , since 2000 . They have two children together.

She now works as a trainer.
