Emilija Chalsberievna Turei ( Russian Эмилия Халсбериевна Турей , scientific transliteration Ėmilija Chalsberievna Turej ; born October 6, 1984 in Astrakhan ) is a Russian handball player .
The right-hander predominantly plays on the left winger position , but is occasionally also used on the right winger. She scored 613 goals in 180 international matches for Russia.
Career
The daughter of a Russian and a Sierra Leonean began her handball career in her hometown of Astrakhan, at the Astrakhanotschka Astrakhan club . In 2005 she moved to Slagelse DT in Denmark . With this club she became Danish champion in 2007 and won the EHF Champions League . In 2008 she moved to league rivals FCK Håndbold , with whom she won the European Cup Winners' Cup in 2009 and the Danish Cup in 2010. In the 2010/11 season Turei ran for the Spanish first division club SD Itaxo, with whom they won the championship. Then she took the Russian first division Rostov-Don under contract. In the summer of 2012 she returned to Astrakhanochka Astrakhan. After running for a year and a half for Astrakhanotschka, she joined the Romanian first division club CSM Bucharest in December 2013 .
At the 2007 Women's Handball World Championship in France , she was world champion with the Russian national team . During the tournament she scored 30 hits. A year later she won the silver medal at the Olympic Games and the bronze medal at the European Championships . She was part of the squad of her national association at the 2009 World Cup in China , where she was again world champion. In summer 2012 she took part in the Olympic Games in London .
