Slagelse FH

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Slagelse Forenede Håndboldklubber , or Slagelse FH for short , is a handball club from the Danish town of Slagelse .

history

Slagelse FH, whose first women's team was Slagelse DT (Slagelse Dream Team) between 2005 and 2008 , played for a long time in the 1st division, the second Danish division. It was only after the coach Anja Andersen took over the club in 1999 that the first successes emerged. The promotion to the Damehåndboldligaen , the highest Danish league, succeeded straight away and under her leadership the team quickly developed into one of the best in women's handball worldwide. She managed to bring some of the best handball players in the country to Slagelse , including her former national team colleague Janne Kolling . In 2003 the club was able to win the Danish championship for the first time and celebrate its first smaller international successes by winning the EHF Cup in the final against Dunaferr SE from Hungary. In 2004 and 2005 they even won the Champions League in the first two appearances (2005 against Gorce Petrov Skopje , 2004 against Krim Ljubljana ). In 2007 Slagelse won the Champions League again.

At the end of the 2007/08 season, the world-class coach Anja Andersen, who had since had health problems, left the club. The most important players went with her. At the end of 2007, there were three withdrawals from the contract. Ten more departures in the summer followed. Numerous sponsors also ended their engagement. With a completely newly formed team, Slagelse took last place in the 2008/09 season and was relegated to the 1st division. In 2011 Slagelse managed to return to the Damehåndboldligaen. On February 1, 2013, the club filed for bankruptcy, whereupon the team no longer participated in the game and was determined to be relegated.
