Mette Blak Melgaard (born June 3, 1980 in Rønde , Denmark ) is a former Danish handball player .

Melgaard began playing handball at Vrold Skanderborg when he was eleven. The circle player came to Slagelse FH in 2001 via the intermediate stations in Århus KFUM and Brabrand IF . Melgaard won the championship with Slagelse in 2003, 2005 and 2007 and the trophy in 2002. In 2004, 2005 and 2007 she triumphed with Slagelse in the EHF Champions League and in 2003 in the EHF Cup . After seven seasons at Slagelse, Melgaard signed a contract with league rivals FCK Håndbold , with whom she won the European Cup Winners' Cup in 2009 and the Danish Cup in 2010. A move to Hypo Niederösterreich was planned in the summer of 2010, but this did not materialize. Melgaard then signed a contract with Randers HK . She won the championship with Randers in 2012.

Melgaard has played 82 international matches for the Danish women's handball team , in which she scored 88 goals. With Denmark she finished fifth at the 2009 World Championships in China. In summer 2012 she took part in the Olympic Games in London . After the Olympics, she ended her career.

Melgaard worked as an assistant trainer for Team Esbjerg from the 2017/18 season . She ended this activity in summer 2019.
