Sergei Alexandrovich Makarov

Sergei Alexandrowitsch Makarow ( Russian Сергей Александрович Макаров , English transcription Sergey Makarov ; born March 19, 1973 in Podolsk ) is a Russian javelin thrower who achieved his greatest success by winning the title at the 2003 World Championships in Paris .

Life

Makarov won the bronze medal in the javelin throw at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens . He won another bronze medal at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki . He threw his best distance of 92.61 meters in 2002 in Sheffield.

Sergei Makarov is 1.92 m tall, his competition weight is 100 kg. His father is the 1980 Olympic javelin runner-up, Alexander Fyodorowitsch Makarow . Sergei Makarov is married to the javelin thrower Oksana Ovchinnikova.
