Jana Alexejewna Kudrjawzewa ( Russian Я́на Алексе́евна Кудря́вцева ; born September 30, 1997 in Moscow ) is a Russian rhythmic gymnast . Her greatest successes include three gold medals at the European Championships and three gold medals at the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in 2013.

Athletic career

Jana Kudrjawzewa has been practicing gymnastics since she was a little girl and was discovered for the junior national team of Russia when she was ten. In 2011 she won an internationally important junior competition for the first time with the World Cup in Pesaro and in 2012 she won two gold medals at the European Junior Championships. In 2013, she actually only went to her first European Championship outside of the youth field as a replacement for another gymnast and promptly won the competitions in ball and clubs.

Since then, even though she was just getting older to take part in senior female competitions, she was already counted among the top international gymnastics sport. Her greatest triumph was three gold medals at the World Championships in Minsk in 2013. She also won the Grand Prix competition in Saint Petersburg in the same year on the ball. Jana Kudrjawzewa is particularly praised for her expression and the apparent ease of technical execution. She won gold five times at the 2014 World Championships . She was also five times world champion at the 2015 World Championships in Stuttgart.

At the Olympic Games in Rio 2016 , she finished second behind Margarita Mamun . In the overall ranking she reached 75.608 points. In November of the same year, the then 19-year-old ended her career due to the consequences of an operation on her knee.
