Jelena Pavlovna Belova married Belova-Kaljanowa ( Russian Елена Павловна Белова-Кальянова ; born July 25, 1965 in Magnitogorsk ) is a former Russian biathlete .

Jelena Belowa from DOSAAF Magnitogorsk was one of the most successful biathletes in the world in the early 1990s. The sports teacher began biathlon in 1985. In 1991 , starting for the United Team, she took part in the Biathlon World Championships in Lahti , where she was seventh in the sprint and won gold in the relay race with Jelena Golowina and Svetlana Pechorskaya , as well as in the team competition with Golowina, Pecherskaya and Svetlana Paramygina . The 1992 Winter Olympics of Albertville , where for the first time women competed in biathlon, proceeded by winning the bronze medal in the sprint behind Antje Misersky and Pecherskaya and Anfisa Reszowa and Jelena Melnikova very successful in the relay competition. In addition, she won the silver medal behind the German team at the 1992 World Championships , where the non-Olympic team competition was held in Novosibirsk , with Inna Scheschkil , Reszowa and Pecherskaya. At the Biathlon World Championships in Borovets in 1993 , now starting for Russia, Belove won a medal. In the sprint, she was able to win the bronze medal behind Myriam Bédard and her compatriot Nadeschda Talanowa . She won the same medal in the relay race with Svetlana Panjutina , Talanowa and Olga Simuschina . In the team competition she missed another medal win in fifth place. Belowa last started in 1994 at the World Championships in Canmore , where only the non-Olympic team race was held. However, the Russian team had to give up the race. In 1991/92 and 1992/93 she was 14th in the overall World Cup ranking.

Belowa is married to biathlon trainer Ivan Fyodorowitsch Kaljanow, the couple has a son.
