At the 29th Biathlon World Championships in 1994 only the non-Olympic competitions were held in team competitions due to the Olympic Winter Games taking place in the same year . The Canmore Nordic Center in Canmore, Canada, was chosen as the venue , making the Biathlon World Championships the first ever to be held in Canada . The biathlon and cross-country skiing competitions of the 1988 Winter Olympics were held in Canmore .
