Jože Poklukar (born January 30, 1973 in Jesenice ) is a former Slovenian biathlete .

Jože Poklukar is a trained mechanic who lives in Gorje and works as an instructor for the Slovenian military. He started for SD Gorje while he was active . At first he was a cross-country skier , but switched to biathlon in 1990 and ran his first races in 1991. Since 1992 he has been a member of the Slovenian national team. Poklukar made his Biathlon World Cup debut in 1993 in a sprint in Antholz , which he finished 75th. In 1994 he took part in the Olympic Winter Games for the first time in Lillehammer and was 59 in the sprint there. At the beginning of the 1994/95 season , the Slovenian ran in a sprint race in Bad Gastein in sixth place. It was his first and only result in the top ten of a World Cup race and the first point to be won in this series of competitions. Two more results in the points followed in the season. The highlight of the season were Poklukar's first biathlon world championships , which took place in Antholz in 1995 . In the sprint he was 63rd, in the individual 74th in 1996 he reached 66th place in the sprint in Ruhpolding , in 1997 he was 64th in the individual in Osrblie , and 14th in the relay race. At the 1997 European Biathlon Championships in Windischgarsten , he won the silver medal behind Andrey Padin in the sprint . The last major event at the highest level was the 1998 Olympic Games in Nagano , where Poklukar was 16th in the sprint and 12th in the Slovenian relay. This was followed by several appearances at European championships until the first few years of the second millennium. Since the beginning of the 2000s, Poklukar took part increasingly in the European Biathlon Cup , in whose races he had also participated repeatedly before. In the 2001/02 season he won a sprint race in Gurnigel and was second behind Devis Da Canal in the pursuit race based on it. There are also further podium placements. In 2006 he competed in his last World Cup race in Ruhpolding.

In 2004 Poklukar took part in the world championships in archery biathlon in Pokljuka and won the silver medal with the Slovenian relay alongside Gaber Lah , Andrej Zupan and Matej Krumpestar . In addition, since the beginning of the 2000s he started increasingly internationally in his original discipline, cross-country skiing. So he took in 2001 in Colchester at the Military World Championships in part and was the 24th 15-kilometer freestyle, 2002 in Kranjska Gora 48th, 2005 in Predeal 13 and 2007 in Haanja 50. Once he joined the FIS Cross-Country World Cup on. In 2002 Poklukar was 49 in freestyle sprint. His twin brother Matjaž Poklukar was also a successful biathlete.
