Location and inhabitants

8,521 people live in the total municipality, which consists of 12 localities. The main town of Zgornje Gorje alone has 2917 inhabitants and is 597 meters west of Bled (German: Veldes ).

The municipality was established in mid-December 2006. Until then it was incorporated into the municipality of Bled .
