Matjaž Poklukar

Matjaž Poklukar (born January 30, 1973 in Jesenice ) is a Slovenian biathlete .

Career

Matjaž Poklukar is a military instructor and lives in Gorje . The twin brother of Jože Poklukar starts for ŠD Gorje , has been running biathlon since 1991 and has been a member of the national team since then. In the Biathlon World Cup Poklukar debuted in 1993 in a sprint in Antholz , where he was 100th. For the first time he was able to collect his first World Cup points in 1994 as tenth in the individual in Hinton, Canada. The following year he achieved his best result and his only podium in the World Cup with a third place in the Lahti sprint . In nine seasons between 1993/94 and 2005/06 the Slovenian was able to achieve World Cup points.

Poklukar took part in biathlon world championships between 1995 and 1999 and 2004 and 2006. The best placings were a 29th place in the 1995 singles in Antholz and seventh with the 2006 relay in Pokljuka . He only qualified for the Olympic Games in 2006 . In the individual he was 47th in Turin , tenth in the relay. In 2000, 2001 and 2003 he took part in European championships without any significant results. Between 2003 and 2007 Poklukar was also used frequently in the European Cup. In 2003 he won an individual in Méribel .
