Petr Garabík (born January 1, 1970 in Jeseník ) is a former Czech biathlete .

Garabík lives in Spišská Nová Ves . The sports teacher has been biathlon since 1985 and started for SKP Jablonec . He made his debut in the Biathlon World Cup in Albertville in 1988 , where he was 29th in an individual. He collected his first World Cup points in 1993 when he was 15th in an individual in Oberhof . For the first time in Biathlon World Championships Garabik took part in 1993 in the relay race (12th) in Borovets . His best World Cup weekend was in Ruhpolding in 1994 . Here he came first in the individual as eighth for the first time under the top 10, in the next race, a sprint, he achieved his best World Cup placement with a second place behind Patrick Favre . Shortly afterwards he took part in his first Olympic Games in Lillehammer . In the individual he was a good eleventh and 21st in the sprint. The 1993/94 season would be his best. In the overall World Cup, he finished 15th.

The 1995 World Championships brought Garabik again good placements. In the individual he was 23rd, in the sprint 15th. With the team ( Roman Dostál , Jiří Holubec and Ivan Masařík ) the athlete won the silver medal behind Norway. The following year the World Championships in Ruhpolding also went well. He finished seventh with the team and eighth in the sprint. The team competition was also his best competition at the next World Championships , in Osrblie he finished ninth with the Czech team. The 1998 Olympic Games in Nagano were disappointing , where he did not make it into the top 50 in any of the individual races. In the world cups he was able to collect world cup points in almost every season of his career. Often he was able to show good results, but without establishing himself permanently in the narrow world elite over a long period of time. 2000 Garabik first took part in the European Championships in Zakopane . In the sprint he finished eighth, seventh in the pursuit and fourth in the relay. In 2000 he won his only World Cup with the Czech relay (Masarik, Zdeněk Vítek and Tomáš Holubec ) in Antholz .

When he last participated in the Olympic Games in Salt Lake City in 2002 , he came in a surprisingly good fifth place with the relay (with Masarik, Dostál and Vitek). The following year he was in Forni Avoltri first eight in the individual at the European Championships and then took part for the last time with good results in World Championships. In Khanty-Mansiysk Garabik was 13th in the singles and sixth with the relay. In 2004, the Czech competed in the summer biathlon world championships in Osrblie for the only time and finished in the middle in the 20s in all of his competitions. Garabik's last world championships were in 2005 in Hochfilzen , where he was 44th in the individual and then ended his career.

Garabik is in a relationship with the Czech biathlete Magda Rezlerová . After his active career, he became a ski technician and is currently (as of 2016) looking after the US team.
