Tomáš Kos (born December 31, 1967 in Semily ) is a former Czechoslovak or Czech biathlete . He took part in three Winter Olympics and won a silver medal at Biathlon World Championships .

Tomáš Kos lives in Jablonec nad Nisou . In 1981 he started biathlon. In 1987 he made his debut in the World Cup and was 67th of an individual in Hochfilzen . The first high point of his career was participation in the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary . Kos was 22nd of the individual, 24th of the sprint and with Jiří Holubec , František Chládek and Jan Matouš eleventh of the relay race. In the post-Olympic season he achieved one of his best career results with an eighth place in a World Cup individual in Borowetz . At the 1989 World Championships in Feistritz , he finished 38th in the individual. In 1990 he reached at the World Championships on the side of Ivan Masařík , Jiří Holubec and Jan Matouš at Holmenkollen in Oslo in the team competition behind the German and in front of the French representation won the silver medal. After that, it took two years until Kos was used again in international championships at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville . As four years before, he was used in all three possible races and was 23rd in the individual, 22nd in the sprint and with Martin Rypl , Jiří Holubec and Ivan Masařík seventh in the relay race. Since 1993 he started for the Czech Republic after the dissolution of Czechoslovakia. At the World Championships in 1993 in Borovets he was 36th of the individual, eleventh of the sprint and with Petr Garabík , Ivan Masařík and Jiří Holubec relay twelfth. The last international championship was the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer . Kos was 46th of the sprint and with Garabík, Masařík and Holubec 12th in the relay race. Kos is now the head coach of the Slovenian Biathlon Association.
