Xavier Blond (born June 18, 1965 in Grenoble ) is a former French biathlete .

Xavier Blond was active for Autrans . He belonged to the generation of French biathletes who led the French biathlon to the top of the world in the late 1980s. Blond achieved his first success when he won bronze in the relay race alongside Hervé Flandin and Thierry Gerbier at the 1985 Biathlon Junior World Championships in Egg am Etzel . He took the first time in 1986 in Oslo at Biathlon World Championships in part and was the 57th of the sprint. The next major event was the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary , where Blond was again used in the sprint and achieved almost the same placement as the previous year with 56th place. He finished eighth with the team. This was followed by the most successful world championships in 1990 in Kontiolahti and Oslo for blond. In the sprint he was 52nd, with the relay he won the silver medal on the side of Christian Dumont , Hervé Flandin and Thierry Gerbier. In the team that won bronze, he was not used, his place got Stéphane Bouthiaux . At the 1991 World Championships in Lahti , he was 17th in the sprint race and sixth in relay with Dumont, Gilles Marguet and Flandin. At the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville , the Frenchman achieved sixth place as the starting runner in the relay race with Gerbier, Dummont and Flandin, as in the previous year at the World Championships, and in the sprint he was 45th. The last international championship was the 1993 World Championships in Borowetz . Blond was 60th of the sprint and eighth with Patrice Bailly-Salins , Lionel Laurent and Christian Dumont as the starting runners of the season. In the team race he won bronze as an experienced companion with the young athletes Gilles Marguet, Thierry Dusserre and Lionel Laurent. He competed regularly in the biathlon world cup between 1986 and 1994. In a sprint in Steinkjer in 1989 he missed a place on the podium by one place, but still achieved his best individual result. For the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer , he could no longer qualify against the young athletes who were advancing and ended his career after the season.
