At the 33rd Biathlon World Championships , only the non-Olympic competitions were held because of the Olympic Winter Games held in the same year .

The pursuit races took place on March 8, 1998 in Pokljuka , Slovenia . The team competitions were held for the last time at world championships on March 15, 1998 in Hochfilzen , Austria .

The competitions took place as part of the biathlon world cup in Pokljuka and Hochfilzen. The result of the sprint from the World Cup was used for the starting order in the pursuit.
