Wojciech Kozub (born July 20, 1976 in Ratulow ) is a former Polish biathlete who took part in eight biathlon world championships and winter Olympic games .

Wojciech Kozub lives in Zakopane and trained in Kościelisko . He was active for WKS Legia Zakopane . The married carpenter started biathlon in 1990. He contested his first race in the Biathlon World Cup in Bad Gastein in 1994 , where he finished 85th in the sprint. In 1996 he took part in his first biathlon world championships in Ruhpolding and was 76th in the sprint and seventh with Wiesław Ziemianin , Tomasz Sikora and Jan Ziemianin with the Polish relay. The next major event was the 1997 World Championships in Osrblie , where Kozub finished 26th in the sprint, 36th in the pursuit and sixth in the relay. With the Ziemianins and Sikora he also won the bronze medal in the team competition behind the teams from Belarus and Germany. In the following season 1997/98 Kozub won in Östersund in an individual as 16th for the first time World Cup points. Highlight of the season were 1998 Winter Olympics from Nagano , where he was 30th in singles, 23 very good in the sprint and the relay in fifth place. At the 1998 World Championships in Pokljuka , the Pole competed in the pursuit race based on the Olympic sprint and reached 39th place. At the 1999 Biathlon World Championships, which were held in Kontiolahti and Oslo due to the weather , he reached 61st place in the sprint, 15th in the individual and 14th place in the relay.

In 2000 Kozub was able to reach the top ten in Antholz for the first and last time as eighth in a pursuit. The 2000 European Biathlon Championships in Koscielisko were quite successful for Kozub with 25th place in the individual, seven in the sprint and four in the pursuit. With Wieslaw Ziemianin, Tomasz Sikora and Krtysztof Topor , he won the silver medal with the Polish relay team behind the German selection. The 2000 World Championships in Oslo and Lahti brought the results 36 in the individual, 59 in the sprint and eleventh in the pursuit race. The last time Kozub appeared in Pokljuka at world championships and was 64th in the individual, 78th in the sprint and sixth in the relay race. At the European Championships 2001 in Haute-Maurienne , winning the silver medal in the relay race could be repeated. The last major event was the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City , Kozub finished 69th in the individual, 18 in the sprint, 34 in the pursuit and nine in the relay. In addition, Kozub won in Kontiolahti at the European Championships with bronze behind Andrij Derysemlja and Sikora in the individual, his only international medal in an individual race. He contested his last World Cup race at the 2002 season finale at Holmenkollen in Oslo.

At the Polish Championships Kozub won the sprint title in 2001, the pursuit in 2000 and 2001 and the individual in 1998 and 2000. In addition, Kozub started successfully at summer biathlon world championships . In 1998 he won the bronze medal in Osrblie behind Russia and the Ukraine with Grzegorz Grzywa , Tomasz Sikora and Kazimier Urbaniak as the final runner. He is married to the biathlete Halina Pitoń .
