Wiesław Ziemianin

Wiesław Ziemianin (born September 7, 1970 in Rabka ) is a former Polish biathlete .

Career

The married sports soldier from WKS Zakopane has been involved in biathlon since 1985. For more than 15 years he was part of the "World Cup Circus". After Tomasz Sikora he was the most important Polish biathlete at this time. Ziemianin made his debut in the Biathlon World Cup in Pokljuka in 1992 in an individual race that he finished 72nd . A year later he was able to score World Cup points for the first time in Oberhof in twelfth place. He was able to achieve greater successes in the 1998/99 season when he was fifth in Ruhpolding with the Polish relay around Sikora and Wojciech Kozub , and eighth in the pursuit in Antholz , which earned him a place in the top 10 for the first time. He achieved his best result in the World Cup in the 1999/2000 season . In Osrblie he finished fourth in an individual. In 2005 he came with Sikora, Magdalena Gwizdoń and Magdalena Grzywa in a Polish mixed relay on a third World Cup place. For over ten years he was able to achieve World Cup points except for one season (1996/97).

Apart from 2003, Ziemianin took part in all biathlon world championships from 1993 to 2007 . He had his best world championships in Ruhpolding in 1996 . Here he was eleventh in the individual, 27th in the sprint and seventh in the relay. Since 1994 he also took part in all four Olympic Winter Games held up to 2006. An outstanding result was fifth place with the Polish Season in here Olympic competition in 1998 from Nagano .
