Magdalena Gwizdoń (born August 4, 1979 in Cieszyn ) is a Polish biathlete .

Career

Magdalena Gwizdon, trained by Stanislaw Kepka and starting for BLKS Żywiec , made her debut at the 1995 World Cup season opener in Östersund . In 1999 she ran in the pursuit during the World Cup in Oberhof for the first time in the top 10. In her best season to date, 2004/05, she came once on a second (sprint) and third (individual) place. She celebrated her greatest success on December 1, 2006 in the first sprint of the season in Östersund, where she won her first World Cup.

Since 1999 Gwizdon took part in several world championships, but could not place better than a 13th place in individual races for a long time (individual, Holmenkollen 2000). It was only during the biathlon world championships in Antholz 2008 that she came seventh in the sprint for the first time in the top ten. At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , she started in all five races. Her best finish was a sixth place with the relay. In individual races, she finished 20th. Magdalena Gwizdoń also took part in the 2010 Winter Olympics. Her best result was 31st place in the pursuit. With the relay, she finished 12th.
