Maria Schylander lives and trained in Östersund . She started for Frösö Idrottsförening . She has been doing biathlon since 1987. At the Junior World Championships in Canmore in 1992 , she won the bronze medal in singles behind Katrin Cruschwitz and Nathalie Santer . She made her debut in the Biathlon World Cup at the start of the 1992/93 season in Pokljuka and came in 25th of an individual straight away in the points. The first major event was the Biathlon World Championships in Borowetz in 1993 , where Schylander competed in the relay race with Eva-Karin Westin , Catarina Eklund and Christina Eklund and came in seventh. In addition, she came in 43rd place in the individual. In Lillehammer she took in 1994 at the Winter Olympics in part and was the 46th of the function SINGLE and Westin, Catarina Eklund and Heléne Dahlberg Season-ninth. The following year, the Swede started at the 1995 Biathlon World Championships in Antholz , where she was 40th in the individual, 71st in the pursuit and with Westin, Susanne Hjert and Magdalena Forsberg 14th in the relay competition. In the 1996/97 season Schylander was able to achieve her best World Cup result in seventh place in Osrblie and at the same time her only placement in the top ten. At the highlight of the season in 1996 , the World Championships in Ruhpolding , the Swede finished 43rd in the individual, 34th in the sprint and tenth in the sprint with Hjert, Forsberg and Kristina Brounéus . The last time Schylander took part in 1997 in Osrblie in a world championship, the Swede was 57th of the individual, 44th of the sprint and 43rd of the pursuit. The last major event was the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano . At the competitions in Nozawa Onsen she was 49th of the individual, 60th of the sprint and with Forsberg, Brounéus and Westin tenth of the relay race. After the 1997/98 season , she ended her career.
