Ville Raikkonen

Ville Raikkonen (born February 14, 1972 in Tuusula ) is a former Finnish biathlete .

Career

Raikkonen first took part in the Biathlon World Championships in 1993 . From the 1994/1995 season he started regularly in world cup races . Up until the 1997/1998 season, he was ranked among the top ten nine times. His best result was fourth place in 1997 in Pokljuka . Ultimately, Raikkonen made his best competition at the Olympic Winter Games in Nagano , where he shot error-free in the sprint race and ultimately won the bronze medal. In 1999 Raikkonen won his only World Cup race in Ruhpolding . After that, the Finn had no more success and he only achieved a top 10 rank in a World Cup race. After the 2001/2002 season and another participation in the Olympic Winter Games , Raikkonen ended his career. Raikkonen's best result in the overall World Cup was 22nd place, which he achieved in 1995 and 1998.
