Mari Lampinen (born September 11, 1971 in Lahti ) is a former Finnish biathlete . Between 1992 and 1999 she took part in all Olympic Winter Games and Biathlon World Championships .

Mari Lampinen lives in Lahti and started for Lahden SC . She started biathlon in 1981, but has only devoted herself to the sport more intensively since 1989. In January 1991 she made her debut in the biathlon world cup . The first major event was the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville . Lampinen was 31st of the individual, 34th of the sprint and with Tuija Sikiö and Terhi Markkanen as the starting runner of the season fifth. At the beginning of the 1992/93 season she reached first placings near the podium with a fourth place in the individual and a fifth place in the sprint in Pokljuka . The high point of the season were the Biathlon World Championships in Borovets in 1993 , at which the Finn was 23rd in the individual, 35th in the pursuit, with Sikiö, Seija Hyytiäinen and Pirjo Aalto in the relay race and with Tuija Vuoksiala , Hyytiäinen and Aalto in the team competition each tenth. 1994 followed in Lillehammer Lampinen second use at the Olympic Winter Games. Again she took part in all three possible races and came in 48th in the individual, 16 in the sprint and with Katja Holanti , Sikiö and Vuoksiala in tenth place in the relay race. In the post-Olympic season 1994/95 she made a first podium finish and at the same time her best World Cup result in a sprint in Oberhof with third place behind Anne Briand and Nadeschda Talanowa . She was ninth in the overall standings. The highlight of the season was again the World Championships in Antholz , where the Finn showed her best World Cup performances with 17th place in the individual and 15th place in the sprint. With Holanti, Jaana Itäluoma and Vuoksiala, she also finished ninth with the Finnish season.

A year later Lampinen in Ruhpolding was 21st of the individual, 45th of the sprint and eighth in relay with Sanna-Leena Perunka , Eija Salonen and Annukka Mallat . During the season , the Finn came in third in a World Cup sprint in Östersund , this time only to Swetlana Paramygina and Olga Melnik . 1997 Lampinen started in Osrblie in five world championship races. In the individual she came in 45th place, was 34th in the sprint, 40th in the pursuit, tenth with Holanti, Tiina Mikkola and Mallat in the relay and sixth in the team race with Holanti, Perunka and Mikkola. For the third and last time, the Finn started at the Olympic Games in 1998 . In Nagano she was 32nd in the individual and eighth in the sprint on the Nozawa Onsen routes . A Finnish relay was not at the start. The non-Olympic races were held as a world championship run in Pokljuka and Hochfilzen. Lampinen was 18th in the pursuit race and won the bronze medal with Holanti, Mikkola and Perunka in the last team run. The last major event was the 1999 Biathlon World Championships in Kontiolahti , where she was 36th in the sprint and 38th in the pursuit. After the World Cup, she ended her career.
