Daniel "Dani" Niederberger (born July 22, 1973 in Wolfenschiessen ) is a former Swiss biathlete .

Dani Niederberger lives and trained in Wolfenschiessen, his birthplace, for whose club SC Wolfenschiessen he also competed. The structural draftsman began biathlon in 1996 and made his debut in the biathlon world cup in 1998 . In Pokljuka he finished 80th in a single. There he was also used in the relay at the Biathlon World Championships in 1998 and was 17 alongside Corsin Rauch , Reto Hänni and Jean Marc Chabloz . In 2000 he achieved his best result in one with a 67th place in a sprint in Ruhpolding pure world cup races. At Holmenkollen in Oslo , Niederberger started again at the Biathlon World Championships in 2000 , where he finished 86th in the sprint and achieved his best international result in an individual race with 66th place in the individual race. The Swiss took part in a world championship for the third time in 2001 in Pokljuka, where he was 79th in the individual, 80th in the sprint and with Roland Zwahlen , Chabloz and Matthias Simmen as the last runner of the season 17th. Highlight of the career were the 2002 Olympic Winter Games of Salt Lake City , where Niederberger with Zwahlen, Simmen and Chabloz again came as a cage rotor for use and led the Swiss season to 18th place. Shortly afterwards he also took part in the 2002 European Biathlon Championships in Kontiolahti , where he finished 48th in the individual, 33rd in the sprint and 43rd in the pursuit. Since the 2002/03 season , the Swiss did not start in the World Cup, but mostly competed in the Biathlon European Cup . Here he ran until 2005, but without reaching top ten results apart from relay races and test competitions such as the super sprint. In Forni Avoltri Niederberger ran his second European Championship at the 2003 European Biathlon Championships, in which he was 33rd in the individual, 27th in the sprint and 30th in the pursuit. With Simon Hallenbarter , Mario Denoth and Jürg Kunz he also reached 14th place in the relay race. Niederberger had his last international championship at the 2004 European Biathlon Championships in Minsk . In Belarus he finished 31st in the individual, 38th in the sprint and 43rd in the pursuit race. Between 2001 and 2004 he also ran several cross-country skiing FIS races. In 2005 Niederberger ended his career.
