Mario Denoth (born April 2, 1980 ) is a former Swiss cross-country skier and biathlete .

Mario Denoth started for SC Bual Lantsch . He was initially active as a cross-country skier. The first international championship was the Nordic Junior World Championships in 1999 in Saalfelden , where he was 63rd over 30-kilometer freestyle. Towards the end of the year he competed in his first FIS races and in the cross-country skiing Continental Cup . This was followed by the Junior World Championships in 2000 in Štrbské Pleso . Up until 2003 there were only subclass races.

Since there were no notable successes, Denoth switched to biathlon in 2002 and made his debut in Obertilliach in the Biathlon European Cup . In the individual he was 39th, in the sprint he won first points in his second race 22nd. In 2006 , he achieved his best result in the second highest racing series by finishing fourth in an individual in Martell . He achieved top ten results six times, two of them with the Swiss relay. The first international championship in biathlon was the 2003 European biathlon championships in Forni Avoltri , in which Denoth was 46th in the individual, 49th in the sprint and 36th in the pursuit and with Simon Hallenbarter , Dani Niederberger and Jürg Kunz 14th in the relay. At the beginning of the 2004/2005 season he made his debut in the biathlon world cup in Beitostølen . With Simon Hallenbarter, Matthias Simmen and Roland Zwahlen he achieved a top ten placement in the relay race in ninth place and was 93 in the sprint. The high point of his biathlon career was the Biathlon World Championships 2005 in Hochfilzen . Denoth was 61st of the sprint and missed the pursuit race by one place, with Hallenbarter, Simmen and Zwahlen he finished 18th in the relay race. At the beginning of the 2005/2006 season he achieved his best result in the World Cup by finishing 38th in a sprint in Östersund . The next international championships were the 2006 European biathlon championships in Langdorf . He was only used in the individual, in which he was 55th. At the Swiss championships in 2006 Denoth won the sprint title. He contested his last international race in the context of the 2007 Military World Ski Championships in Võru , but did not finish his sprint race.

After his active career, Denoth became a ski technician and looked after Dario Cologna as a serviceman until 2011 , who won the overall World Cup in cross-country skiing in 2011. In succession to Adriano Iseppi, he then became a cross-country and biathlon trainer at the Ftan High Alpine Institute .
