Nextlalpan is a municipality in the Mexican state of México . It belongs to the Zona Metropolitana del Valle de México , the metropolitan region around Mexico City .
The municipality had 34,374 inhabitants in 2010, its area is 54.7 km² . The administrative seat of the municipality and the largest of its 34 towns is Santa Ana Nextlalpan . Other larger towns are Ex-Hacienda Santa Inés , San Miguel Jaltocan and Prados San Francisco .
geography
Nextlalpan is located in the north of the state of Mexico, about 30 km northeast of Mexico City at an altitude of about 2200 m . About 80% of the area of the municipality is used for agriculture.
The municipality of Nextlalpan borders on the municipalities of Zumpango , Jaltenco , Tecámac , Tonanitla , Tultitlán , Tultepec , Melchor Ocampo and Teoloyucan .
