Cuautitlán is a municipality in the Mexican state of México . It belongs to the Zona Metropolitana del Valle de México , the metropolitan region around Mexico City . The administrative seat and largest place of the municipality is the city of the same name Cuautitlán ; other larger towns are Galaxia Cuautitlán , San Mateo Ixtacalco , La Providencia , Santa María Huecatitla and Barrio Tlatenco .
The administrative district had 140,059 inhabitants in 2010, its area is 26.3 km² .

Cuautitlán is located in the northeast of the state of México, about 15 km north of the Federal District .
The municipality borders on the municipalities Cuautitlán Izcalli , Teoloyucan , Melchor Ocampo , Tultepec and Tultitlán .
