Isidro Fabela is a municipality in the Mexican state of México . It belongs to the Zona Metropolitana del Valle de México , the metropolitan region around Mexico City . The seat of the municipality and its largest town is Tlazala de Fabela ; other larger towns are Colonia Palma , Ejido Palma and Ejido Miraflores . The name of the municipality refers to the Mexican lawyer and writer Isidro Fabela .

The community had 10,308 inhabitants in 2010, its area is 76  km² .

Isidro Fabela is located in the center of the state of México, about 20 km northwest of Mexico City , at an altitude of 2500 to 3600 m.

The municipality borders on the municipalities Nicolás Romero , Atizapán de Zaragoza , Jilotzongo , Otzolotepec and Temoaya .
