Juchitepec is a municipality in the Mexican state of México . The municipality had 23,497 inhabitants at the 2010 census, the area of ​​the municipality amounts to 141.1 km². Despite its agricultural character, it belongs to the Zona Metropolitana del Valle de México , the metropolitan region around Mexico City .

The administrative seat and the most populous of the 23 towns in the municipality is Juchitepec de Mariano Rivapalacio , a second larger town in the municipality is San Matías Cuijingo .

Juchitepec is located in the southeast of the state of México at an altitude of 1600  m to 3000  m .

The municipality of Juchitepec borders the municipalities Chalco , Temamatla , Tenango del Aire , Ayapango , Amecameca , Ozumba and Tepetlixpa as well as the state of Morelos and the federal district of Mexico City .
