Chapa de Mota is a municipality in the Mexican state of México . The municipality had 27,551 inhabitants at the 2010 census, the area amounts to 293.1 km². The seat of the municipality is the Chapa de Mota of the same name , while the largest places in the municipality are San Felipe Coamango , San Juan Tuxtepec and Dongu .

Chapa de Mota is located in the northwest of the state of Mexico, about 40 km northwest of Mexico City .

The municipality of Chapa de Mora borders the municipalities of Jilotepec , Timilpan , Villa del Carbón and Morelos as well as the state of Hidalgo .
