Chapultepec is a municipality in the Mexican state of México . It belongs to the Zona Metropolitana del Valle de Toluca , the metropolitan area around Toluca de Lerdo .

The municipality had 9,676 inhabitants at the 2010 census, the area amounts to 12.6 km². The seat of the municipality and its largest town is the eponymous Chapultepec ; Another bigger place in the municipality is Unidad Habitacional Santa Teresa .

Chapultepec is located in the western part of the state of México, about 10 km southeast of Toluca de Lerdo .

The municipality of Chapultepec borders on the municipalities of Mexicaltzingo , Metepec , San Mateo Atenco , Tianguistenco and Calimaya .
