Jaltenco is a municipality in the Mexican state of México . It belongs to the Zona Metropolitana del Valle de México , the metropolitan region around Mexico City . The seat of the municipality is the eponymous Jaltenco . The municipality had 26,328 inhabitants in 2010, its area is 4.7 km² .
geography
The municipality consists of two unconnected parts, a northern one around the administrative center Jaltenco, located between the municipalities Zumpango and Nextlalpan , with about 11,000 inhabitants, and another about 10 km further south around Alborada Jaltenco with about 15,000 inhabitants, that of the municipality Tecámac , Ecatepec de Morelos , Coacalco de Berriozábal , Tultitlán and Tonanitla is surrounded. Besides the two cities mentioned, there are no other places in the municipality.
Jaltenco is located in the north of the state of México, about 30 km north of Mexico City at an average altitude of about 2250 m . 82% of the community area is urbanized, 12% is used for agriculture.
