Huehuetoca is a municipality in the Mexican state of México . It belongs to the Zona Metropolitana del Valle de México , the metropolitan region around Mexico City . The seat of the municipality is the eponymous Huehuetoca , while the largest place in the municipality is Colonia Santa Teresa . Other larger towns are Ex-Hacienda de Jalpa , San Bartolo and Salitrillo .

The municipality had 100,023 inhabitants in 2010, its area is 118.9  km² .

Huehuetoca is located in the north of the state of México, about 40 km north of Mexico City.

The municipality borders the municipalities Tepotzotlán , Tequixquiac , Zumpango and Coyotepec as well as the state of Hidalgo .
