The Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía ( INEGI ; German National Institute for Statistics and Geography ; until April 2008: Instituto Nacional de Estadística, Geografía e Informática ) is a state institution in Mexico for the economic and geographical data collection and the development in the field of IT .

INEGI was founded on January 25, 1983. The INEGI reports to the Ministry of Finance, but efforts are underway to give the INEGI its own competencies. The head office is in Aguascalientes .
