Tultitlán is a municipality in the Mexican state of México . It belongs to the Zona Metropolitana del Valle de México , the metropolitan region around Mexico City . The seat of the municipality is Tultitlán de Mariano Escobedo . The community had 524,074 inhabitants in 2010, its area is 69.5 km² .

geography

Otumba is located in the north of the state of Mexico at an altitude of about 2,240  m and borders the federal district of Mexico City to the north. About 40% of the municipality area is urbanized, about a third of the municipality is used for agriculture.

The municipal area consists of two unconnected parts: on the one hand, a southern part around Tultitlán de Mariano Escobedo, and, on the other hand, an area around San Pablo de las Salinas further northeast. Neighboring municipios are Cuautitlán , Tultepec , Nextlalpan , Tonanitla , Jaltenco , Tlalnepantla de Baz and Cuautitlán Izcalli , and Tultitlán also borders Mexico City .

In the 2010 census, 5,366 speakers of an indigenous language were counted. 4% of the population was living in extreme poverty at the time.
